Dublin was incorporated in 1982, just one year older than me! Dublin holds a special place in my heart. It was the first place I relocated to from Kansas. When I first lived in Dublin, the entire east side of the city as we know it, did not exist. They were still in the process of building, but had a rude awakening come recession time in 2008-2009 when everything stopped selling. Shortly after 2010 or 2011, the real estate market picked up again and heated up with development all over the eastern side of town with builders such as Toll Brothers, Shea, Meritage, Pulte, Dr. Horton and more!
Dublin hasn't officially pulled off a "Downtown" but has been developing a sense of community through events such as the Farmer's Market and their popular Splatter event, both held at Emerald Glen Park.
Their newest and second High School, Emerald High, will come as a relief to several of the east side Dubliners since the drive and bus route for kids to Dublin High could be seen as an inconvenience with many driving as long as 30+ min with traffic.
Dublin is one of the very few places residents can shoot off fireworks in designated parks. Of course these fireworks aren't the crazy illegal high in the sky ones we all love so dearly, but rather the lovable fountains and smaller ones that are sold at pop-ups in the area. Don't ever wait last minute to go because they sell out and you are for sure to never hear the end of it from your kids. Take it from someone that knows!
When you think Dublin, you don't think California, you think Ireland. It was named after the capital of Ireland because a large Irish population used to live in the area.
Dublin is known for it's St. Patrick's Day celebration that I'm embarrassed to say I never attended, but hear it's a blast.
Dublin's location has been popular since the Native Americans would trade their goods here or Spanish explorers as they passed through on their way to San Francisco Bay. Now it's popular amongst the commuters who need Bart, 580/680 to reach work! Funny how time and location aligns through history towards common goals.
The famous Iron Horse Trail runs straight through Dublin and is popular amongst joggers and cyclists alike.
